"What Is Your [Origin] Story?"

Hello and welcome to the “What Is Your Story?” blog, where we will be posting OUR stories and take you behind the scenes of our exhibition and how it came to be. We are immensely grateful for you to take the time and read more about who we are and taking time to be a part of the “What Is Your Story?” community.

We wanted to start off by sharing our origin story, where we have been, and where we are going.

Where we began

“What Is Your Story?” began as a discussion around our design team’s office as we brainstormed for a project that could be entered into the Design TO Festival. It began as a question of where people were from and transformed into a more simple notion as we were able to share stories with one another. At the start, we thought it would just be a window display and it would be something that would be a one-time event, but little did we know, it would grow beyond our wildest dreams.

We were accepted into the Design TO Festival and partnered with Book and Brunch in January of 2019 to create the first “What Is Your Story?” window display at Pandemonium Book & Disc store. The stories that were in that display were shared from our studio and two local pop-ups that we held in preparation for the display. The partnership with Book and Brunch was a huge success and we were so ecstatic for the impact that it had on the people around us.

To our surprise, The Museum of Design Atlanta (MoDA) reached back out to our team and asked us to turn “What Is Your Story?” into a longer running exhibit to run alongside the Passione Italiana: The Art of Espresso exhibit being displayed.

Where We’ve Been

After MoDA we have gotten so many amazing opportunities to share stories with people. From small-town exhibits in McDonough to being a small yet impactful booth in a giant expo hall at Greenbuild 2019, we have gotten to experience the power of stories that lace people’s lives. “What Is Your Story?” has been scaled from 3 month long exhibits to 2 day pop-ups, and from each experience, we have learned lessons for a lifetime.

Where We’re Going

Finishing up our fourth pop-up, we are looking toward the future, anticipating the opportunities to share stories far and wide. Seeing the responses from each of our storytellers has been impactful in our lives and we want to be able to share this experience to more people. We don’t know what 2020 will bring, but if we are able to hear people in our community, it will be well worth it - be on the look out for big things!

Thank you for reading our story, and we hope to share more with you.
